The company started its activity in a suburb of Bombay in 1980. Succeeding in its area of activity it grew manyfold and shifted to the present location in 1989. In the new 71,750 sq feet factory at Mahad a new corporate entity - Al Habib Engineering India Pvt Ltd was formed. Its main activity is the manufacturing of pneumatic Jack Hammers which are exported to the Middle East.
In the early days of its inception the company fulfilled its requirements of forging by purchasing from the market. These forging were machined and assembled in the plant to make the finished product.
To ensure more control over quality and delivery a one tonne hammer was installed in 1990. This step gave the company the facilities to produce all the necessary forgings in-house.
The plant has a well equipped shopfloor having all modern equipment like capstans, milling, broaching, slotting and drilling machines. It also has a die manufacturing set-up for total control over quality. In house heat treatment equipment and related ancillary services have ensured that delivery deadlines are easily met.
Anticipating a boom in the export market for forgings the company has plans to expand its production infrastructure. A 2 tonne hammer has been installed and commissioned. A laboratory for testing materials is being set-up for testing the quality of raw materials.
The company is also manufacturing different flanges for the export market. A different area of activity - automobile components - has been identified and already production and sales have been chalked up. A 0.5 tonne open hammer has been installed for manufacture of open forgings. There are plans for the installation of a 8 ton belt drop hammer anticipating the growth in this sector of the industry.
