Automation was in its infancy during 80's, and most of the automation packages were imported. The core group of IPA identified the necessity for indigenisation and worked earnestly to achieve it, that too without any foreign collaboration whatsoever.

Weighing being a very basic process requirement for automation, we focused our efforts to manufacture load cells in India. Within a span of five years we started production of quality loadcells for Process Industries.

There are only very few manufacturers of Strain Gauges in the world, as production of Strain Gauges is a closely guarded technique. In 1992, we started commercial production of Strain Gauges, taking the knowhow from National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, joining the rank of the Very Few. This is a major landmark in the field of load cell indigenisation.
