What is the Zhusuan or abacus Methodology?

Abacus Calculation is a method of Calculation using beeds while abacus mental arithmetic is a method of mental calculation performed on a virtual image of the abacus formed in the mind based on the principles of abacus calculation.

IMA established in 1994 in Malaysia, the program comprises of 10 grades. Each grade comprises of one term spread over 34 months. To make fundamentals stronger the first term i.e. grade 10 is for a period of 4 months. The training is scientifically designed towards whole brain development, which include student exercises, regular assessments and competitions. The student is certified on completion of each grade.

Objective is eventually wean children away from the use of the abacus and develop their skills to solve problems mentally.
